Glade Run Recreation Management Area

Description:
The approximately 27,400 acres of public land within the Glade Run Trail System encompass a wide variety of topography, from rolling hills to sandy arroyo bottoms to sandstone slickrock. Vegetation is sparse, primarily consisting of common grasses, rabbitbrush, sagebrush, and juniper and pi*on. The area is widely used by a diverse range of recreationists. There are 42 miles of marked trails for motorized trailbike riders and mountain bikers. It is also the site of the Road Apple Rally, which is the oldest continuously held mountain bike race in the world. Portions of the marked trails are open to four-wheel-drive enthusiasts and all-terrain vehicles, and part is open to off-road vehicles.

Directions:
In Farmington, follow signs to the San Juan Community College, then proceed north on College Boulevard past the Anasazi Amphitheater to the site. By 1999, trailhead parking also will be available at the north end of Foothills Boulevard.
